Biocognitive Reflections
Biocognitive Reflections is a private audio archive exploring meaning-making, relationships, and the biology of belief. These recordings are not produced as a series, but as focused inquiries into how perception, emotion, and identity shape health, longevity, and lived experience. Enter where relevance calls.

Existential elegance is the quality of being graceful, discerning, noble, and dignified in times of rejection perpetrated by those we chose to trust. This pristine elegance is the most powerful antidote to unrequited love.

Although the construct of willpower has been studied extensively, recent meta-analysis research show there's no credible evidence for so called willpower. In this audio I propose, personal agency is what moves us to enact or reject an option. I also explain what I consider are the three components of agency and how to cultivate them. Before there was language and grammar, we had emotions with their biological associations, some were to be expressed to others, that we now call transitive verbs, and others did not have an object to receive the action (intransitive verbs). In this lesson I explain why it's important to be coherent with what you feel and how you express it and live it. Feel free if you want to donate to this channel to help maintain the work I share here. If not, just enjoy.

Dr. Mario E. Martinez, a clinical neuropsychologist, established the Biocognitive Science Institute™ in 1998. He developed a theory of mindbodyculture he calls Biocognition to suggests how cognition and biology coemerge with their cultural history in a bioinformational field that seeks maximum contextual relevance.
Mario Martinez's theory of biocognitive science proposes that the brain learns to interpret symbols and their biological correlates from cultural contexts. He is the proponent of cultural psychoneuroimmunology (how cultural beliefs affect the regulation of nervous, immune, and endocrine systems). The plasticity of our brain allows for reversals of dysfunctional behavior learned from the cultural reality we weave to perceive our world.

Our brain projects time and space based on our experiences. What we see unfolding with people that are important in our lives is archived to later replicate. This can be good or it can be very devastating because you will be superimposing how to experience what you learned by observing others in situations from the past. For example, if you see your parents aging at a particular rate, you will be storing the information on how your aging should unfold. In this audio, I explain the process and give you alternatives to deal with the time when you reach turbulence at the edge of horizons.

The Turritopsis is a jellyfish that never dies. Although it has no brain and no heart, when it reaches a certain limit of aging, it simply drops to the bottom of the ocean and triggers polyps that generate stem cells to reproduce itself for another generation. So, unless killed by a predator, the Turritopsis is immortal.
Based on what I have discovered from the regenerating process, I am going to discuss ways to approximate what the Turritopsis does using our consciousness. This does not mean that I am promising immortality. Instead, I am proposing techniques that add to the gene expression of longevity.

In biocognition, the latest horizon is exploring a new concept that I call disaging. The premise is to look at aging as an illness rather than a natural progressive deterioration of mind and body. Although a bold concept, so were objects that could fly, the earth is round, and going to the moon. But this exploration is beyond what scientists are doing in genetic engineering. The disaging I propose goes beyond diets, exercise, pharmacology, and conventional medicine. It does not replace these scientifically sound methods, but it accepts them as necessary without being sufficient.
What is lacking in modern science is the expansion of consciousness needed to extract the wisdom that we presently consider unattainable. So gradually, we are going to explore the next step of what I learned from my work with healthy centenarians, worldwide. In other words, I learned how centenarians think and exist successfully in their long and meaningful lives. Now I want to take this knowledge a step beyond conventional wisdom using biocognitive tools to cultivate our innate potential that could resolve the mystery of aging as an illness.
